Dad-To-Be Has His Own “Man-Ternity” Photoshoot After His Pregnant Wife Refuses

When Justin Sylvester (also known as Redditor @DruishPrincess69) discovered that he and his wife were expecting their first child, he was overjoyed. He tried to convince his wife to do some maternity photos to commemorate the special occasion but she wasn’t into the idea, so the Austin-based dad-to-be decided to take matters into his own hands with a “man-ternity” photoshoot of his own. The results are incredible.

  1. Photographer Kerri Lohmeier is behind the incredible images. Lohmeier and Sylvester worked together to create a series of photos that took on some of the most classic tropes, from the hand heart, the classic pregnant belly silhouette, one in which he’s eating ice cream… it goes on and on.
  2. The photos immediately went viral. Since the time they were uploaded to image-sharing website Imgur, Sylvester’s “man-ternity” pictures have racked up more than five million views, with everyone cracking up at just how hilarious and creative the pictures are.
  3. It’s hard to pick a favorite from the pictures. Frankly, I really love the black and white pose on the bed. How many images have we all seen like this over the years? It’s supposed to be intimate and really poignant but Sylvester really turns that on its head here and pokes a bit of lighthearted fun, which shows what a great sense of humor he has.
  4. It’s unclear why Sylvester’s wife didn’t want a maternity shoot. That’s something we just don’t know. We also don’t know what she thought of the fact that her husband took her place and did his own shoot or her reaction to how popular the images got online. Hopefully she’s laughing as much as the rest of us!
  5. The photos were taken several years ago, so I’m sure they’re happy parents now. One day, their kid will probably look back at these images and realize just how awesome his or her dad is.
