A dad-to-be has been slammed after a photo began circulating online showing him tucking into a takeout pizza while his partner is in labor with their child. The photo, which was captioned “It’s not delivery, it’s DiGiorno,” was posted to Reddit’s r/trashy sub and immediately took off, with many commenters remarking how inappropriate it was while others just found it hilarious.

  1. To be fair, this could be staged. It’s important to get this out of the way before we go any further, because as we all know, there’s nothing some people won’t do for a little internet notoriety. It’s possible that the mom-to-be was in on the joke and thought it would be hilarious. It’s even possible she asked for the pizza to chow down between contractions. Who can say?
  2. If it’s real, it’s kind of messed up. Giving birth is no small feat. It’s hard and painful and for the guy to be sat there chowing down on pizza instead of being there to support his partner and hold her hand while she’s bringing their child into the world is kinda nuts.
  3. Then again, people have to eat, I guess… As some commenters on the thread argued, labor can be long and hard and it’s not fair to expect the guy not to eat if he’s starving. After all, she could be in labor for days, and eating a pizza in the room with her is better than him disappearing for hours on end while he goes home to cook, so there’s always that.
  4. At least it got people talking! Whether or not it’s real aside, the picture has definitely got people talking and expressing their opinions. Is it wrong? Is it hilarious? Is it a little bit of both? Who can say!
