Did Harry Styles Actually Spit On Chris Pine Or What?

Did Harry Styles Actually Spit On Chris Pine Or What? Twitter

The world is a mess right now and there are some pretty serious fish to fry — the Russian war on Ukraine, economic collapse, and the rising energy prices, just to name a few — but all the internet can talk about today is whether or not Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine at the Don’t Worry Darling premiere. A clip showing the alleged incident popped up on social media on Tuesday and suddenly, it’s become the debate of the century. Could Harry Styles — would Harry Styles — have actually spit on Chris Pine in a room full of people? The jury still seems to be out on the truth.

  1. The clip does look a bit suspect. In the clip that was uploaded to Twitter before making it to every other platform on the internet, Styles’ girlfriend Olivia Wilde and Don’t Worry Darling co-star Chris Pine are already seated that the premiere. Styles comes to take his seat soon after, and as he leans over to sit down, he appears to purse his lips and spit in Pine’s direction. Pine is clapping as Styles comes over, but after the alleged spit incident, he seems to stop and look down at his lap.
  2. Is this much ado about nothing? The idea that Harry Styles, whose star is pretty much at the pinnacle right now, would walk into a crowded movie premiere and spit on his co-star in full view of everyone seems slightly ludicrous. The internet loves to jump on insane trains with zero proof behind it, so it’s not entirely impossible that people are making a big deal out of nothing here. And yet, many have pored over every single frame of the video and would bet cold hard cash that this really happened. So what’s the truth?
  3. Reps for Harry Styles have denied that he spit at Chris Pine. Sources close to Styles responded to the story pretty succinctly, reportedly saying: “This is not true.” Then again, would they actually come out and admit he’d done something so disgusting if he had? Doubtful.
  4. Chris Pine’s reps have also denied that the actor was spit on by Harry Styles. This might be a little easier to believe. In a statement released to Variety, Pine’s reps said: “This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.” While it seems more likely to be truthful coming from the alleged victim, would it not be smarter to downplay yet another controversy coming out of Don’t Worry Darling so as not to distract from the movie itself? Hmm…
  5. A second video from another angle seems to exonerate Styles. In the second clip, taken of the same incident from another angle, makes it seem like Styles did nothing at all but just sit down in his seat. This is likely the truth, but where’s the fun in that?
