Serial Rapist ‘Breaks Back’ Falling Off Cliff In Corfu While On The Run From Police

A convicted serial rapist broke his back and sustained serious injuries after plunging 100 feet down a ravine on the Greek island of Corfu, The Mirror reports. Dimitris Aspiotis is said to be in the hospital and under police watch after nearly a month-long manhunt to find the 47-year-old following fresh allegations from a woman who named him as her attacker.

  1. Dimitris Aspiotis is known as ‘The Beast of Kavos.’  He’d previously been sentenced to 52 years in prison in 2012 after being convicted of raping up to 100 women, including but not limited to British Airways stewardess Kayleigh Morgan. However, he was released just six years into the sentence after convincing authorities that hed changed, leaving him free to roam the streets and attack other women.
  2. Police began looking for Aspiotis earlier this month. This was after a 34-year-old Albanian woman claimed that Dimitris Aspiotis dragged her into a forest and raped her at knifepoint for three days. Until now, Aspiotis has been impossible to find.
  3. After his fall, emergency workers hauled him out and he was immediately arrested. According to The Sun, Aspiotis suffered multiple fractures during the fall, which took rescuers three hours to pull him from as the area where he fell, in Lefkimmi, was largely inaccessible. He reportedly suffered a fractured leg, hip, and spine and a ruptured kidney from the fall.
  4. It’s likely he’ll be returned to prison immediately. While no official decision has been made, many speculate that Dimitris Aspiotis could now be sent back to prison as soon as he recovers and forced to serve out the remainder of his 52-year sentence given that he violated his parole conditions. Here’s hoping he’s never let out for the rest of his life.
  5. Morgan, for one, is happy he’ll soon be off the streets again. “I hope he stays in pain for the rest of his life — it’s time for the Greek authorities to throw away the key,” she said. “I warned he would strike again and was proved right. I’m just glad he was caught before yet another woman’s life was ruined.”
