Do Your Friends Hate Your Boyfriend? Signs They’re Not His Biggest Fan

When you meet the man of your dreams, you expect that your friends will all fall head over heels for him, too. Unfortunately, often times that just isn’t the case. Maybe they’re just jealous you’ve been spending all of your time with him and putting them on the back burner, or maybe they’re seeing something you are not. Either way, if they are doing any of these things, he’s probably not their favorite.

  1. They ask way too many questions. They won’t stop at small talk asking him where he’s from or what he does for a living. They want to know why his last relationship didn’t work out and how much money he has in the bank. Basically, they act like they’e the police and they just caught their number one suspect.
  2. They always assume the worst. He makes one little mistake (like forgetting to call you back) and he’s suddenly living a double life with a wife and two kids, in their eyes.
  3. They only want to have “girls only” nights. When you were single, they were all about couples activities and you were always the odd girl out. Now that you have a plus one of your own, they want it to be girls only.
  4. They try to set you up with other guys. They know the two of you have had the talk and are no longer seeing other people, yet they keep mentioning the new guy at work or so and so’s college friend that they just have to set you up with. Where were all these men that you “just have to meet” when you were single?
  5. They avoid him or just completely ignore him. They go out of their way to not have to see him (cancelling plans when he’s included or speeding away before he comes to the door when they drop you off at his apartment), and when they can’t, they just pretend he isn’t there.
  6. They make fun of him. Mostly behind his back since they spend most of their time trying not to be in the same room as him, but they’ll gladly do it to his face when they’re forced to look at it.
  7. They stop talking when he enters the room. Because they were clearly talking about how much they hate him.
  8. They “research” him. Not like the standard “just started dating my BFF background check (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter)”, like the FBI ones you have to actually pay money for.
  9. They get annoyed when you talk about him. They want to know everything that’s going on in your life. Unless, of course, it has anything to do with him, and then… eye roll.
  10. They don’t ask about him/your relationship. Because they’d rather not know. They would rather talk about anything else, like a yeast infection.
  11. They promote the single lifeThey say things like, “Remember how fun it was to be single?!” even though they haven’t been single for years.
  12. They constantly bring up your ex. Who they thought was awful when you dated him, but now suddenly they’re his biggest fans.
  13. They straight up tell you. Of course you don’t want to hear it, but there’s something to be said for their honesty.
