Dog Runs Into Sister From Same Litter And Immediately Hugs Her

I got my dog when he was really young, picking him out of a litter of 7. Sadly, I don’t know where the other puppies ended up, but I have always wondered if my dog would recognize his siblings if he ever saw them again. After hearing this story, I’m pretty sure the answer is yes.

  1. Monty and Rosie were born last June. The cockapoos were part of the same litter born last summer but went to different homes. However, fate was on their side as they ran into one another at a local park recently and they immediately recognized each other.
  2. They literally started hugging immediately! While many dogs get familiar with one another by sniffing each other’s bums, Monty and Rosie gave one another massive hugs. Twitter user Libby Pincher shared the photos sent to her by her dad after a morning walk and people went crazy. “So, Dave was out walking his dog, and there was a couple walking towards him with a white version of his dog,” Libby’s dad wrote to her in a text. “Turns out they are brother and sister from the same litter. But instead of just playing like they do with other dogs, look at this.” The photos of the dogs hugging were attached.
  3. Even Rosie’s owner was pleased her pup got to see her brother again. Talking to The Dodo, Susan Killip said, “It was so lovely, they both just jumped up and hugged each other. It was amazing they remembered each other after 10 months of not seeing each other.” It really is amazing!
  4. Monty and Rosie were always really close. As Killip explained, while the litter had six puppies in it, Monty and Rosie were always hanging out when they were little. Killip’s friends were the ones who adopted Monty and they even watched Rosie for about a week early on. However, they hadn’t seen each other since then, which makes their reunion all the more special.
