Dog With Severe Anxiety Gets His Own Emotional Support Puppy

Dogs are honestly too precious for this world and we don’t deserve them. However, we’re lucky enough to have them in our lives and in our homes, which is why we need to do whatever we can to take the best care of them possible. When Carolyn Manalis from Perth, Australia realized how badly her dog Arnold was struggling with anxiety, she decided to help him in the best possible way: by getting him his own emotional support pup named Frank. The two are now best of friends.

  1. Arnold the Weimeranar was attacked when he was only a puppy. He was mauled by a German Shepherd outside of his home and the incident left him with extreme separation anxiety as well as anxiety around loud, large dogs. Carolyn was beside herself with worry for Arnold.
  2. She decided an emotional support dog might help Arnold. That’s when she brought home Frank, a miniature dachshund who has not only become Arnold’s new BFF but has also helped him feel more secure and confident both at home and when out of the house.
  3. Carolyn couldn’t be happier to see the positive effect Frank has had. “The bond these two dogs have is just insanely beautiful,” she explained, as reported by Unilad. “They are so connected and loving and supportive of one another. If one ever cries, the other one is there in half a second to check they are OK. Their love is unconditional, regardless of their size or breed.”
  4. It’s like doggy therapy! “Frank has helped Arnold regain his confidence to be able to play and wrestle while learning that this doesn’t always mean he’s going to get hurt or attacked. Having a little friend to play with has been the perfect therapy for Arnold to heal,” Carolyn said. It makes so much sense! Frank shows Arnold that play can be fun rather than dangerous, which is so important.
  5. If you want to see more from these gorgeous pups, they’re on Instagram. Carolyn shares Arnold and Frank’s daily adventures on their Instagram page @arnoldandfrank. Trust me, it’s well worth a follow.
