I’m not really squeamish, but I can’t say I like bugs all that much, especially when they decide to make a surprise visit. It can be unnerving to say the least to have a bug crawl or drop on you out of nowhere, and when it happens while you’re on the road, it can be downright dangerous. In fact, earlier this month, a driver totaled his car by crashing into a sign while trying to get rid of a spider in the vehicle.
- Police are warning drivers to keep their eyes on the road ahead. Of course, that’s easier said than done, but the man in the photos shared by Isle of Wight Police was lucky to have escaped with his life after looking away from the road to try and get rid of the spider in his car. It’s a cautionary tale, for sure! The incident took place in Kite Hill in Wootton last week.
- There aren’t many details surrounding the crash, but I’ve seen all I need to see. The post did reveal that the driver of the “was trying to remove a spider from his vehicle at the time of this incident,” but beyond that, all I need to see is his totaled car smashed into a road sign to know how easily he could have lost his life in this crash.
- The driver walked away with minor injuries. Despite the seriousness of the crash, the driver was okay. “Our ARV/colleagues have had a busy afternoon. They currently are dealing with this vehicle on Kite Hill in Wootton so please bear this in mind when you are passing through this way as the traffic might be slightly slower moving until this vehicle is recovered,” the PD said. “We are glad to say the driver only has minor injuries from this incident but as always please keep your eyes on the road as there are lots of distractions around at this time of year.”
- Stay safe out there, guys! While I’m sure the man’s reaction to the spider was totally involuntary, it can be dangerous! Make sure you’re staying safe and try to scan for bugs before you get on the road.
