Elderly Man Blows Up Part Of His House Trying To Kill Fly With Electric Swatter

An elderly French man was lucky to escape with very minor injuries after a gas leak in his home caused an explosion while he was trying to kill a fly with an electric swatter. The man, who was in his 80s, was taken to a local hospital for treatment but suffered only a small burn on his hand. A lucky escape for sure!

  1. The man was just about to sit down for dinner when he heard the fly. How annoying is it when you can hear a stupid insect flying around the room but it’s too fast for you to get and kill or at least get out of your house? The unnamed man was just about to sit down for a nice meal at his home in Dordogne, Sud-Ouest reports, when he noticed the fly and set off to catch and kill it.
  2. He used an electric fly swatter. Electric fly swatters can theoretically move faster than our human hands, so the man likely thought he was on his way to solving his issue. The problem is, the minute he used it, the air around him exploded. Oh no!
  3. A leaking gas canister was to blame. Apparently, when the fly swatter was enabled, it interacted with the gas that had leaked in the air of the man’s home in Parcoul-Chenaud village and caused a massive explosion, destroying the entire kitchen and part of the house’s roof.
  4. He’s lucky to be alive after the accident. After being taken to a hospital in nearby Libourne, the man was treated for a small burn on the hand and was on his way, totally healthy and safe otherwise. Whew! He checked into a local campsite while repairs to his home are undertaken and no doubt considers himself very fortunate not to have been more severely harmed or even killed!
  5. No word on the fly’s fate. Knowing how these things go, I bet it’s still alive!
