Every Woman Should Try Dating Another Woman—Here’s Why

There is a lot of fluidity when it comes to sexual attraction, and it is a lot easier to experiment than it used to be. If you’re a woman who’s open to the idea of dating women, here’s why you should definitely try your luck—you never know what you might discover about yourself and your sexuality.

  1. You’ll be appreciated in a totally different way. Women and men are definitely designed differently when it comes to feelings and emotions. You’ll likely find that a female partner is more comfortable expressing herself in a way that makes sense to you, and you’ll feel comfortable being yourself.
  2. She’ll understand your hormones. Because she also experiences the obnoxious hell of the ups and downs of a period cycle, she’s more sympathetic and also more intuitive when it comes to navigating your needs. Finally, someone who knows how to treat you when you’re PMSing!
  3. You’re less likely to have to deal with mixed signalsYes, people of any gender can be difficult when it comes to dating, but women are more emotional about physical interaction than men. You’re more likely to know where your relationship stands with a woman and less likely to get screwed over.
  4. She’s probably in it for more than the sex. This is a hell of a lot more possible with a woman than a man, and if it’s not, she’ll probably be straight with you about it. She won’t lie to you and tell you all kinds of sweet stories just to get in your pants, only to disappear the next day.
  5. You won’t have to spell out your needs. Because the two of you operate on a more similar emotional and mental level when it comes to romance, she’ll be closer to the mark when she tries to make you happy. The other plus? She’s probably a lot better at communicating than a dude. Of course, this isn’t true across the board, but it’s certainly more likely.
  6. She probably won’t be afraid of commitmentYou might have the opposite problem— someone wanting too much commitment too fast—but honestly, isn’t that a preferable issue to have? After years of emotionally stunted commitment-phobes, it could be a welcome change.
  7. You totally understand each other’s bodies. Women’s bodies are just better, it’s true. If you have the chance to give and receive love from someone who truly knows what you need because her needs are similar, go for it. It’ll likely be a beautiful and fulfilling experience.
  8. You might be able to share clothes and accessories. OK, maybe that sounds stupid, but wouldn’t it be kind of nice to know that the feminine products are stocked and maybe she’ll let you borrow those kickass boots you’re always eyeing? You can double down on all kinds of things and save money too.
  9. She won’t be grossed out by your natural bodily functions. All women have periods and yet so many men can’t seem to come to terms with the fact that it’s normal and not weird. If you’re tired of dudes who treat you like you have the plague when your cycle comes around, you’re in luck—she’ll never do that.
  10. You both have emotional ups and downs, but at least you get where they come from. Men are always so terrified of a woman’s moods. They don’t know what to do or how to act, and most of the time they simply freeze up. A female partner will be more understanding and empathetic.
  11. It gives you a different perspective on dating. If you’ve only ever been in heterosexual partnerships, becoming romantically involved with a woman can change your viewpoint. You’ll be surprised at the similarities and touched by the small differences. It’s healthy for you to approach love in a  new way.
  12. You’ll realize that relationships are never easy. It doesn’t matter whether you’re with a man or a woman—relationships are tough regardless. It might inspire you to go easier on the next guy you date because you’ll realize that we’re all only human in the end. It might inspire you to branch out and date more women. Who knows?
  13. It’ll help you stop putting yourself into narrow-minded boxes. Society so badly wants to categorize us, but the truth is that people are simply more complicated than that. You might not be entirely straight; you might not be entirely gay. You can be whatever you want, and you can change your mind when you want.
  14. You can experiment in all sorts of fun ways. Sure, the sex is different, but that means you get to try all kinds of new things! You’ll also probably find her to be way accepting and appreciative of your body, so you can let loose and get really comfortable.
  15. Women are beautiful—can’t hurt to date one. Any woman can admire another woman’s beauty, no matter how straight you are. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to appreciate a female body on a more personal level, this is your chance. It might be the best thing you ever do.
