For better or worse, face coverings need to be part of our daily lives at least until there’s a coronavirus vaccine. In the meantime, we need to wear them to keep ourselves and others safe while we attempt to adjust to the new normal. If, for instance, you want to take precautions while enjoying a tipple, this gin lover’s face mask may be just the thing you need.

  1. It has a tiny fold-up flap for a straw. The mask, which was posted by Instagrammer @theginaddict, seems to be made of a black canvas-type material and includes a little flap with a hole under it through which a saw can be inserted for sipping. The embroidered text reads “Gin only” and includes an arrow pointing to the drinking hole.
  2. Is this truly safe? That’s hard to say. The hole is located just off to the side of the mouth, so it’s not head-on. However, it also creates a blank space for germs to get in and escape through, so in many ways, it does sort of negate the point of having a mask on to begin with.
  3. It doesn’t appear that these are actually for sale? While the face mask was posted to great acclaim to @theginaddict’s timeline, with many gin-loving commenters begging to know where they can purchase one of them, there doesn’t seem to be a purchase link anywhere and a Google search doesn’t bring up anything of note. Could it be that these don’t really exist?!
  4. You might be better drinking at home for now… Considering that face masks are meant to be worn securely and it’s sort of impossible to wear them properly while eating or drinking, perhaps the best option for now might be to enjoy your gin in the comfort of your own home until it’s actually safe to hit the bar.
  5. That being said, if you do find one, pick one up for me. I mean, they’re super cute, right?
