Female Powerlifter Vomits All Over Judges In Deadlift Competition

Weightlifting is no joke. I do dumbbell workouts at home, but the idea of picking up extremely heavy things makes my back hurt just thinking about it. I have so much respect for people who train hardcore to lift, like, the weight of a car. I can’t imagine what that does to your body! Well, apparently sometimes it makes you throw up, which is what happened to powerlifter and Instagrammer @blondebeautybri, who was so focused on her deadlift during a competition that she started vomiting all over the judges.

  1. Everything started out well enough. Bri was pumped for her lift, even throwing in a little chicken dance before getting down to business. She was ready to go and leaned down to pick up the heavy barbell, and we had liftoff! It seemed like it was going to be a super successful lift, and it was, just with a minor twist.
  2. She started throwing up a few seconds later. The vomit just started spewing out of her mouth all over the mat in front of her and, as she would later reveal, over at least one of the judges. However, she didn’t stop or put the weight down. She was determined to finish her lift and that’s just what she did. I have to say, the face of her spotter was hilarious!
  3. She uploaded the video of the incident herself. Instead of being embarrassed by what happened, Bri was actually proud. She pushed on despite the minor setback and did well! “I’m not embarrassed nor ashamed of this. I’m actually proud of myself for not giving up like most lifters would!” she wrote on Instagram. “So many people are saying so many things like it’s ‘gross,’ ‘nasty,’ ‘chicken dance.’ Whatever! Yes, it’s gross and nasty, and yes I like to do the chicken dance to pump my lats before my lift, but at the end of the day I still got my final attempt deadlift and I wouldn’t change anything at all.”
  4. Why would she give up a great opportunity? As Bri pointed out, she put in a lot of training for that specific moment, so there was no way she was going to let a little throwup get in her way. “For people who don’t understand powerlifting and the passion, we as powerlifters train long and hard, beat our bodies up for 1 day on the platform and a total of 9 lifts. You better believe after I covered the judge in vomit. There was no way I wasn’t going to get my lift,” she explained. Good for her!
