I don’t know about you, but my plant collection has been growing insanely since lockdown. I’m running out of room to put any more succulents, flowers, ferns, and other greenery but I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. That’s especially true now that I’ve discovered “frizzle sizzle” plants. They’re curly, quirky, and really cute. I love it!
- “Frizzle sizzle” plants are otherwise known as albuca spiralis. However, it gets the “frizzle sizzle” moniker because of its adorably curly leaves, which are curled in tight tendrils. Originating in South Africa, the leaves sprout from an underground bulb and.
- In the blooming season, frizzle sizzle changes its appearance. It sprouts beautiful yellow flowers that have a beautiful scent. According to Succulents Box, the flowers can smell like vanilla and butter. If that doesn’t sound amazing, I don’t know what does.
- The plants are incredibly easy to care for. Frizzle sizzle plants don’t require much sunlight — it needs some but not a full day’s worth of bright light – and you don’t even have to water it very much. It’s also not vulnerable to pests like other plants, so you don’t have to worry about it getting eaten up by any greedy insects.
- They don’t take very long to grow from scratch. Frizzle sizzle plants take about 12 weeks to grow fully, and during that time they’re pretty particular about their water and drainage needs during that time. They also need a temperature of at least 60° F, so they won’t survive in colder temperatures. Oddly enough, they still grow better throughout winter.
- Even if you don’t think you have much room left, you can always fit a frizzle sizzle in your collection. Check your local garden center or specialty flower shop – they might be able to get a hold of one of the plants for you. They’re worth hunting down!
