When you’re ill in hospital, the last thing you expect is to wake up and find one of the hospital workers hired to oversee your care sucking your toes. However, that’s exactly what a female patient at the Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida claims happened to her at around 11 a.m. on Monday, February 24, and the incident led to the arrest of 23-year-old Frantz Beldorin.
- The victim thought the nurse was just checking on her at first. According to the Lee County Sheriff report, the patient felt something on her foot and while she originally believed it to be just a nurse checking to see she was okay, it then happened twice more and she realized something was amiss, Fox 4 reports.
- Then she felt something wet between her toes. The third time she noticed something touching her toes, she then realized there was something wet there too. It was then that she noticed Frantz Beldorin bent over her foot and reported the worker, who was employed as a ‘sitter’ at the hospital, to authorities, but not before she ‘ripped’ her foot away from him and Beldorin returned to the chair he’d previously been sitting in.
- Frantz Beldorin was arrested the following morning. After the patient reported the incident to hospital staff, they informed the local sheriff, who arrested Beldorin and booked him into the Lee County Jail and charged him with battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
- He insists it’s all one big misunderstanding and he did nothing wrong. Despite being arrested for the incident, Frantz Beldorin told Fox4 that when the patient saw him bending down, it was only to retrieve his phone rather than suck her toes. “I’m reaching to get my phone, it dropped so when she got up I guess she got startled and it’s dark,” he explained. “A day that I thought I was going to make it out of peacefully, a day that I had planned, it didn’t turn out the way that I expected it.”
- He had other options. Beldorin also added that if he wanted to suck toes, he didn’t need to do so at the hospital where he worked, saying, “I can get that from someone else, I don’t have to get that from her.” He also pointed out that the hospital room door was open and there were other patients present.
- Frantz Beldorin is “not that type of dude.” “When the security came and got me, I was like, ‘what’s going on?’, and they’re like, ‘Just come with me’,” he told NBC-2 of his arrest. “It makes me look crazy or creepy and I’m not! Like I’m not that type of dude. If I offended her in any way, I apologize.” His mother also pointed out that he’d worked at the hospital for four years without incident, though that obviously doesn’t preclude him from being guilty here…
- He’s since been fired from the hospital. While Beldorin has been released from prison on bond, he has lost his job at the hospital and is being forced to wear an ankle monitor ahead of his trial on March 30.
