Florida Man Who Cut Off Wife’s Lover’s Manhood With Scissors Gets 20-Year Prison Sentence And $250,000 Fine Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office

A Florida man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the brutal attack on his wife’s lover during which he cut off the other man’s manhood with scissors and allegedly kept the appendage as a souvenir. Alex Bonilla pleaded guilty to the 2019 assault in a Gilchrist County court, admitting to kidnapping and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. In addition to the 20-year prison sentence he received, Bonilla will also serve 10 years on probation and a $250,000 fine, the Daily Star reports.

  1. Bonilla reportedly lived across the street from his victim. The 51-year-old is understood to have entered the man’s home in the town of Bell. The victim lived in the home with his wife and two daughters, though it’s not believed the children witnessed the attack. However, Bonilla entered the property to warn the man to stay away from his wife, after which a fight broke out and the assault took place. Bonilla claimed that he “blacked out” at one point and didn’t remember any of the events that transpired that afternoon.
  2. This was a planned and sustained attack. The victim told investigators that Bonilla tied his hands behind his back and told him: “You are not going to die, but you are going to have something to remember this for your whole life” before pulling down his pants. He’s then said to have wrapped a rubber band around the man’s penis several times “to cut off circulation” before attacking him with the scissors. “This is for all the women you have been having relationships with,” Bonilla is said to have told the man.
  3. Bonilla then took the man’s appendage with him. After pocketing the man’s organ, Bonilla told his victim: “Don’t act this way, this is normal. And if you try to call the police, I will be out in two months and I will come back and finish this.” However, it was never recovered and now the victim is having trouble with “urinating and the ability to have sex with his wife has been messed up for the rest of his life,” according to a statement he made to police.
  4. Sadly, the victim will never forget that day, as Bonilla told him. Doctors have told the man that he “will never have any sensation in his penis again,” the victim admitted.
