Florida Mom Leaves Her Toddler And Baby In Unlocked Car To Go Drinking At Bar West Melbourne Police Department

A Florida woman decided to leave her two young children in her unlocked car while she went into a local bar for a drink. Jamie Leigh Gunn, 33, parked her SUV in the Penny Annie’s Bar parking lot and left her 2-year-old and 8-month-old inside while she went in to enjoy some libations, Fox 35 reports. Now, she’s facing serious charges.

She didn’t think twice about leaving her kids behind.

When officers from the West Melbourne Police Department showed up at the establishment last weekend, they found Gunn’s SUV unlocked and still running with her two kids inside.

According to officers, the children were asleep in the backseat and were thankfully unharmed. Still, police identified the owner of the vehicle and headed inside the bar, where they found Gunn drinking with a friend.

Jamie Leigh Gunn cared more about her criminal record than her children.

According to a police statement, Gunn had been in the bar drinking for at least 20 minutes when authorities arrived “while having no regard for her children who were left unattended.”

“When Gunn learned law enforcement was outside with her vehicle, she was more concerned about going to jail than the welfare of her children,” a statement from the WMPD continued.

She was charged with child neglect and her kids were removed from her custody.

Jamie Leigh Gunn was booked into the Brevard County jail, where she was held on $15,000 bond. She posted bail the following day and was released.

In the meantime, her kids were taken by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and handed over to a family member while an investigation is performed.
