A Florida woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to poison her baby’s father by spiking his drink with Raid roach spray. According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Veronica Cline asked the man, with whom she lives, to have a few drinks at their place on Wheeler Street in DeLeon Springs, but a few hours later, Cline was in cuffs, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.
- Veronica Cline had no shame about what she’d done. After hanging out at a bar, she and the victim haded back to Cline’s house and she made the unnamed man two drinks. He drank them both and then began feeling sick. That’s when Cline openly told him she’d put Raid in his beverages.
- The 24-year-old victim threw up for roughly half an hour. During that time, he was feeling severely ill. However, he eventually managed to recover enough to call 911 for help. However, he continued to be sick even when a deputy from the VCSO showed up at Cline’s house at just after 4:30 a.m., with deputies noting that he threw up while giving his statement.
- Veronica Cline was nowhere to be found when police arrived. However, the victim was still there to tell his side of the story, and authorities sent out a K-9 unit to find her nearby the house. She was arrested without any further incident.
- Cline was booked into the Volusia County Jail and is being held without bond. She was charged with poisoning food or drink with intent to kill or injure and is due in court in the coming days. She told police during an interview that she not only poisoned the father of her child but that she wanted to do the same to their baby. It’s unclear what her motivation was for doing so, but she’s being held without bail.
