A Florida woman who uses an oxygen tank was arrested after she was caught stealing floor lamps from a local Walmart. Debbie Ann Sullivan was looking for a five-finger discount at a Walmart in Summerfield. After picking up a few items, she went past the self-checkout and walked out of the store with two Mainstays Downbridge floor lamps in tow. The lamps cost $43.88 each, but the 65-year-old decided she wanted them for free, The Villages-News reports.
- Sadly, she was caught in the act. Walmart takes loss prevention seriously, and one of its officers saw the woman and her oxygen tank leaving the store with the merchandise without paying. He immediately called the police, who arrived to arrest Debbie Ann Sullivan.
- This wasn’t her first brush with the law. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan has developed a bit of a rap sheet for her love of thievery, which led them to book her into a local jail on $2,000 bond. She had previous theft convictions in 2003 and in 2011.
- Sullivan insisted it was all big one misunderstanding. In an interview with a deputy, Sullivan insisted “it was a mistake” that she walked out without paying and that she was “apologetic” for how things had gone down. However, given her previous charges, that apology doesn’t mean much.
- She only spent about six hours behind bars before she bonded out. It’s unclear who posted the $2,000 to get Sullivan released from Marion County Jail, but she was back out as a free woman pretty quickly. It’s unclear when she will appear in court to answer the charges against her. Something tells me, however, that this isn’t the last we’ll be hearing from Debbie Ann Sullivan.
