Florida Woman Arrested For Falsely Reporting Theft Of Kids’ Christmas Gifts In Failed Grinch Plot Lee County Sheriff's Office | Cat in the Hat Productions

A Florida woman was arrested after she falsely claimed that her kids’ Christmas presents had been stolen in a failed “Grinch”-like plot. Shana Hudson, 39, told deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office that someone had broken into her home in Lehigh Acres and left her children without gifts this holiday season. She was lying.

Detectives took her at her word and sprung into action.

Not wanting the children to suffer because of criminal activity, deputies came together and got the Lehigh Acres American Legion to donate some money for gifts.

The sheriff’s office Shop With a Cop also chipped in so that the kids could have things to unwrap come Christmas morning.

However, they soon realized all was not as it appeared.

Shana Hudson wasn’t telling the truth at all.

As an investigation into the alleged burglary continued, deputies received a Crime Stoppers tip that claimed Hudson was lying through her teeth.

When they looked into those claims, they soon discovered the so-called “stolen” presents safely stowed at a family member’s house.

Well, that’s not really in the holiday spirit!

Hudson was arrested when the truth was discovered.

She was charged with fraud — false report to law enforcement and booked into the local jail. It’s unclear how long she remained in custody, if she was granted bail, or whether Shana Hudson was released on her own recognizance.

“This pathetic behavior is unacceptable, especially given the circumstances this holiday season,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, per Fox News. “This woman took advantage of the system and is now paying the price for her selfish choices.”
