Two Florida women were caught trying to gain access to a COVID-19 vaccine by dressing as “grannies.” The women, who remain unnamed, turned up in bonnets and gloves at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando where vaccines were being given hoping to pass as old women so they would be given their second shot as they’d already had their first, WTFV reports. Sadly, their plan didn’t work out and they were busted.

- The women were originally thought to be in their twenties. This was because Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino believed they looked incredibly young when they came down to the vaccination center. “I don’t know how they escaped for the first time, but they came with the gloves, the glasses, the whole thing, and they are probably in their 20s,” he said at the time.
- They had two legitimate vaccine cards from their first dose. Given their ages and the fact that neither of the women are believed to be on a priority list, it seems fair to assume that they’ve pulled this trick before and it actually worked, as both had documented and valid cards from their first shot. How were they not caught?!
- The women were turned away and the case turned over to police. Workers at the Orange County Convention Center not only rightfully refused to give the women a shot, they also called on the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to look into the situation. Police arrived on the scene and issued trespass warnings to the women, but authorities confirmed that no other action was taken.
- These women aren’t the only ones who’ve tried to get one over on vaccination workers. As Dr. Pino revealed, the amount of people who turn up trying to falsify their identities is “probably higher than we expect” as desperation for COVID-19 vaccines outweighs supply.
