These Flower Pot Wine Kegs Are The Boozy Summery Accessory Your Back Yard Needs

While we’re all practicing social distancing, we’re spending more and more time in our back yards. Maybe you’ve been enjoying some beer at sunset (or, you know, sunrise) or simply soaking up some sun when the weather is nice enough. Well, with summer just around the corner, you’ll want to break out these flower pot wine kegs to keep your favorite vino on tap all day long.

  1. This is the perfect project for DIY enthusiasts among us. Flower pot wine kegs don’t already exist ready-made, sadly. That means you’ll have to get crafty and make them yourself. Thankfully, doing so is easy enough because Food Network put together a handy tutorial that will have you dispensing your fav red (or white or rose) in no time!
  2. They’re classy AND sassy. Even if no one comes over to your house/sits in your back yard all that often, you’d probably prefer to have the area full of decor that looks nice. You might be able to find a rustic wine keg that would fit in, but why not turn flower pots into dual-purpose accessories that look pretty AND serve up delicious drinks?
  3. You don’t need too many special tools to make it happen. Basically, you buy a 5L wine bag and measure the spout. Then, you mark a plastic flower pot with the correct measurement for the spout to fit through and cut the hole. Then insert the wine bag spout through the hole and voila, you’re done! For the flowers, get artificial ones and stick the ends into styrofoam.
  4. This is the kind of project we can all get behind. Even if you don’t consider yourself very crafty or into DIY, this is simple enough for even a novice to complete AND you’ll probably be the only one of your friends or family with a flower pot wine keg. Win/win!
