A ‘Frozen’ Prequel Is Headed To Disney+ Next Month And It’s All About Olaf Disney

Is there a Disney movie in recent memory that has touched quite as many people and become such an obsession as Frozen? Both the original and the sequel were a massive hit as fans got to learn all about Anna and Elsa and what made them special. However, the new Frozen prequel coming to Disney+ next month is all about someone else: Olaf.

  1. Olaf is the best! He’s certainly the comic relief of both of the Frozen films, so it seems only right that he gets his own movie now, right? The upcoming Disney+ prequel will reveal how he came to life and show off some of his adventures around Arendale as he began to realize who he was.
  2. Clearly there’s a demand for this! “What happened to Olaf within the moments after Elsa created him as she was ‘letting it go’ and building her ice palace, and when Anna and Kristoff first meet him in the forest? And how did Olaf learn to love Summer?” Disney teased in the press release for the movie. I don’t know about you but these are all questions I would like answers to!
  3. This has been in development for a while, apparently. “This is an idea that started to form when I was an animator on the first Frozen,” said director Trent Correy. “Dan Abraham and I are so grateful and excited to have had the opportunity to direct this short, working with our incredible colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios.”
  4. Josh Gad will be back as Olaf. Of course it had to be Gad as Olaf. Who else would be able to bring his magic alive? Thankfully they were able to get him back to voice the character because it would have been pretty weird otherwise.
  5. There’s not long to wait before it’s out. October 23rd is the big day that the new Frozen prequel heads to Disney+, so there’s not long to wait at all! Happy streaming!
