I hate hot weather, but one thing I look forward to every summer is basically eating my weight in watermelon. Yes, you can get it all year long, but in summer is when it really is at its peak. It’s sweet, ripe, refreshing, and delicious. And now that Delish has released a frozen watermelon mule recipe, there’s another way to enjoy my favorite fruit!
- Frozen watermelon mules are like an adult slushie. Using the fresh fruit in this recipe is what gives it that ultra slushie consistency and lets you relive that fun childhood experience of getting a 7-Eleven Slurpee or other slushie but just as an adult (with a very boozy twist).
- You really only need five ingredients. While the recipe for frozen watermelon mules lists seven ingredients, only five are really necessary since two are just garnishes. The next time you go to the grocery store, you’ll need to pick up cubed watermelon that’s been frozen, ginger beer, vodka, lime juice, and ice. The garnishes listed are mint leaves and lime slices.
- It literally couldn’t be easier to make. All you have to do is take all the ingredients, blend them in a blender, pour them in glasses, and voila! You have frozen watermelon mules ready to enjoy alone or with friends. It really couldn’t be simpler. It only makes four servings, so if you plan on drinking a lot (and believe me, you’ll want to!) then you’ll want to double up on the recipe.
- The next time you’re wanting to enjoy the sunshine, make these to enjoy. Summer may still technically be more than a month from now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get into the spirit early. Get your ingredients together, pull out the lawn chairs, make a pitcher to take out back with you, and enjoy.
