Furious Mom Tackles Man Accused Of Peeping Through Her 15-Year-Old Daughter’s Window

When you’re a parent, you’ll go to the ends of the earth to protect your children and you certainly won’t stand for anyone doing anything to hurt or take advantage of them. One Texas mom found herself in one such position recently when, upon returning home from running errands, she found a man peeping through the window of her 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom. While he tried to run away, Phyllis Pena of Lake Jackson was not about to let that happen. So, she did what any mom would do: she chased him down and tackled him.

  1. The man was peeping through the girl’s window at 7 a.m. The perverted man was peering through the girl’s window and staring at her in broad daylight, completely unaware that her mother was soon to be arriving home and would discover him. Phyllis was infuriated and her instinct to protect her daughter immediately kicked in.
  2. The suspect tried to run away when Phyllis called the cops. The 19-year-old man who’d been looking through the window took off running, but Phyllis wasn’t going to let him escape justice. She immediately ran after him, catching up and then tackling him to the ground to wait for the police to arrive. “It was just natural instinct, for whatever reason, to make sure he doesn’t make it past me,” she told ABC13.
  3. She didn’t think twice about putting herself in danger. After all, the suspect, Zane Hawkins, could have had a weapon or anything. Still, Phyllis knew she had to do what she had to do to protect her children despite having no training or never having done anything like that before. “I jumped in front of him and just tackled him,” she recalled. “It just came naturally, which was really weird.” She added: “You just want your kids to feel safe. In a situation like that, your kids don’t feel safe.”
  4. The police were eventually able to take Hawkins into custody. I don’t think he’ll be coming back around Pena’s house anytime soon, that’s for sure!
