103-Year-Old Grandma Celebrates Virus Recovery By Drinking Beer

A 103-year-old Massachusetts woman celebrated her recovery from coronavirus by chugging a cold beer at her Wilbraham nursing home this week, TMZ reported. Jennie Stejna, a “feisty” great-great-grandmother and Red Sox fan, was the first to test positive at the home and her family was concerned she might not make it. Well, she did and that’s worth having a celebratory drink or two!

  1. There have been 33 confirmed cases in Jennie’s nursing home. After she tested positive, staff immediately moved her to a different ward, where she came down with a low-grade fever and continued to deteriorate. Things weren’t looking good for Jennie.
  2. Jennie’s family believed she might die. While they were hopeful that she would make a recovery, they also knew that her advanced age and the seriousness of the illness might make that impossible. Wicked Local reports that when her grandson-in-law Adam called and asked if she was ready to go to heaven, she simply replied with, “Hell yes.”
  3. Suddenly, she made a turnaround! By May 13, Jennie was well on her way to making a full recovery. “This feisty old Polish grandmother of ours officially beat the coronavirus,” Adam said in a video obtained by TMZ. You go, Jennie!
  4. Jennie enjoyed a bottle of Bud Light in celebration. In the video, Jennie can be seen chugging down the drink happily, remarking, “It’s the best one, it’s cold.” Too right there! No one likes warm beer. Ice cold is the perfect way to enjoy it.
  5. Jennie is basically a living legend. Having lived in Massachusetts all her life, Jennie has two children, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, which is incredible! She married her husband Teddy in 1938 and they remained together until his death in 1992 at the age of 82. She’s had an incredible life and will hopefully enjoy many more years to come.
