Fully Grown Man Tries To Attack 16-Year-Old Not Knowing He’s A Martial Arts World Champion

A grown man who tried to launch an unprovoked attack on a 16-year-old boy got more than he bargained for when he was floored by the teen, who just so happens to be a junior world champion in jiu-jitsu. Alex Williams wasn’t going to deal with the man assaulting him and put all of his martial arts training to use in dealing with him.

  1. Alex was enjoying his first week of school when the attack happened. He was on Guisborough High Street in North Yorkshire, UK with a friend enjoying his lunch break. Out of nowhere, an unknown man approached them and got close to Alex, trying to attack him.
  2. The teen kept his cool. Given the situation, anyone might freak out, but not Alex. At first, he tried to protect himself without getting too physical with the man. However, the attacker then said, “I’m going to crush your head in… I’m going to stab you down the alley.” That’s when Alex knew he had to launch into a full-fledged defense.
  3. Alex took the man down with his jiu-jitsu moves. He subdued the attacker with his signature double leg takedown and then pinned him to the ground without having to throw a single punch. “As he got closer to me, I saw an opportunity to defend myself and fight back, so I took it. When the fight or flight kicks in, you’ve got to choose one or the other, and I choose to fight back, and I was focused,” Alex told Teesside Live.
  4. He knew it was a dangerous situation. Despite Alex’s impressive martial arts skills, he was well aware that the man could have had a weapon. “Obviously, I was worried in case he had a knife on him because he has threatened to stab me, but in situations like that, it’s about surviving, and I was thankfully ready for him,” he recalled.
  5. The attacker came back for more. Even though Alex took the man down once, he still came back for more, which was a shock even to Alex. “I thought after I had taken him down the first time that he would have walked away, but he came back for, more so I just continued to try to restrain him without hitting him,” he said. “I was in a seated position, and the move just came to me naturally because I’ve drilled it a thousand times in training. My main aim was to de-escalate the situation safely.”
  6. Alex did have a few small injuries. While he was thankfully okay, he didn’t get away unscathed. “There was blood everywhere, and I realized he had bitten a chunk out of my ear. I went to the hospital to get it cleaned, and I’ve got six stitches in it now,” he said. Thank goodness he’s okay!
