Guys Reveal The Things Women Think Are Attractive That They Hate

When you’re trying to get a guy’s attention, it’s natural to think about what you could be doing differently to get it. Unfortunately, you may be a little misguided in your approach to reeling him in, and if you’re doing any of these things, you need to reevaluate because instead of winning him over, you’ll be seriously turning him off.

  1. Trying to make them jealous Flirting with other guys in front of the guy you actually like may seem like a good idea. After all, if he sees that other dudes want you, that will make him realize how much he wants you, right? Wrong! Reddit user melocoton_helado named women “flirting with other men to try to make you jealous” as his biggest hate, and 45,000 other users who upvoted him agreed.
  2. Dumbing yourself down or being pretentious So many women do this and it’s totally counterintuitive. SoundNotLoud was adamant that “pretending to be dumber/smarter than you actually are” are “equally annoying” when it comes to women’s behavior. You’re likely moderately intelligent so just be you. You don’t need to show off or pretend you’re less clever than you are!
  3. Overdoing the cosmetic procedures Listen, no one should be able to tell you what you can and can’t do to your face/body. However, if you’re plumping up your lips or going for other procedures thinking guys love it, you’re wrong. Dooyooeven shared, “Lip injections…or injections in general. Butt implants. People be crazy.” Another 24.5k people agreed with that one.
  4. Dropping hints There’s nothing worse than someone expecting you to be a mind reader, and guys really hate when you drop hints instead of just communicating what you mean. “It’s like navigating through a maze,” Bladeric wrote. “An honest, upfront girl is sooo attractive.”
  5. Playing hard to get This is probably a bit shocking since conventional dating wisdom tells us that playing hard to get is the way to a guy’s heart, but it’s totally the truth. A whopping 20.6k people agreed that playing hard to get is a complete turn-off and not something they’re into. Showing genuine interest goes a long way.
  6. Oversharing online It’s tempting to fill your social media accounts with selfies, funny quips, and the minutiae of your everyday life on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. but please don’t do this—dudes hate it. As DashNumber4 wrote, “Putting literally everything they think or do on their social media accounts [is the worst]. Like no one needs to know you clogged your toilet this morning.”
  7. Indecisiveness You may think that being agreeable and amenable with a guy is an easy way to make him like you but in reality, you’re actually annoying him more than anything else. “Not having an opinion,” StickSauce named as a major offense. “It’s super frustrating to ask a question and be countered with a question or an apathetic response.”
  8. Fake tans First of all, if you want to hit up a fake tan, you do you. However, if you think that dudes only want a woman who looks like she lives in Ibiza all summer, think again. As -eDgAR- wrote, “Seen plenty of girls with the skin tone of an Oompa Loompa walking around like they are hot s**t.”
  9. Not being polite Being gossipy, rude, or just plain mean is NOT a good look to guys (and in life in general). “It isn’t cute, doesn’t make me think you’re tough, or whatever it is you are going for,” Laying_it_down shared. “If you are mean to someone that you think is in a lesser position, f**k outta here. It doesn’t make you look better than them, it makes you seem like a royal b***h Kayla.”
  10. Trying to be someone you’re not How often do you see women describe themselves as “quirky” when their definition of the word is, like, wearing two different colored socks sometimes or liking country music even though you’re from the city? The whole manic pixie dream girl scenario is way outdated, and JimBobSandoval voices the annoyances of many guys when naming “desperately trying to be ‘quirky’ like Zooey Deschanel” as his.

At the end of the day, if any of these are things that YOU want to do and that feel good to YOU, keep doing them and don’t give one iota of thought to it. However, if you’re resorting to these tactics for a guy’s sake, you’re wasting your time and energy for nothing. Be you—any guy would be lucky to have you.
