Halloween is just around the corner, and I need no excuses to stuff my face with all things sugary for the entirety of October. (Okay, who am I kidding? I’ll do it for the rest of 2020.) If you also love this spooky holiday, clearly the only way to celebrate is by turning the traditional charcuterie arrangement on its head to create stunning Halloween candy boards that almost look too good to eat. (Almost.)
- SO. MUCH. CANDY. The great thing about arranging boards is that generally speaking, there’s plenty of room on them for maximum snackage. Get yourself a decent-sized board and you can literally fit so much candy on there that you’ll basically end up in a diabetic coma before you get through it all. (Seriously, though, pace yourself. Too much sugar is no joke.)
- You can put whatever you want on there! One thing I really love about boards is that they’re totally customizable to the creator’s personal taste. If you don’t like those fun-size Snickers, don’t put any on there! Are you a big fan of those nasty Mary Janes that everyone has always given out for trick or treat? Go wild, it’s your life! Anything you can dream, you can put on there.
- It’s the best way to get a bit of everything. Another great thing about Halloween candy boards is that you get to graze on a whole bunch of different goodies at the same time. For instance, this incredible board by @christyvegaofficial has Twizzlers, Smarties, Reese’s cups, gummy pumpkins, Skittles, Hershey’s chocolate… it’s the best of the best!
- Obviously this isn’t something you can set out this year. In normal years, I’d say Halloween candy boards are the platters you want out at your party, but given COVID and everything, it’s probably better to keep to pre-packed sweets that can be enjoyed at a social distance. However, there’s nothing stopping you from making one for yourself and those in your household to enjoy at home!
