The First Trailer For Season 4 Of The Handmaid’s Tale Is Here And It’s Intense

Admittedly, I sorta lost interest halfway through Season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale and I took a few months’ break from it. I’m glad I stuck with it though because the next season seriously kicked things up a notch and I was left wondering what was going to happen to Offred and everyone else. Well, the first trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 is here and it looks absolutely insane.

  1. Season 4 is nothing like what came before. While a lot of people have speculated what direction The Handmaid’s Tale would take this season, showrunner Bruce Miller says audiences will not expect what lies ahead in the new episodes. “You don’t want to be setting up Season 4 in Season 3. Audiences smell that coming,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “So what I do is completely screw myself at the end of the season. Then you think, ‘Oh, there’s a whole bunch of smart writers who will come in next season and solve that problem.'”
  2. Offred isn’t taking the ways of Gilead lying down. Not only is she rescuing young girls from Gilead’s brutal rule, she’s also actively fighting against it now. The trailer shows Offred picking up a gun and looking quite keen to use it. Aunt Lydia looks none too pleased at just how bold Offred is getting with her methods and describes her as irredeemable, which leaves me hopeful that we’ll be seeing some serious showdowns between the two fiery characters next season.
  3. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 is due to premiere this fall. Filming started in Toronto, Canada in early March and while the timeline might be slightly off due to the coronavirus pandemic, all being well, we’ll be getting the new episodes later this year. Fingers crossed! Whenever it comes out, I know one thing for sure: I’ll be watching! Will you?
