Henry Cavill has been experiencing quite a shakeup in his career lately. It wasn’t long ago that he revealed he wouldn’t be returning to Netflix’s “The Witcher” next season as he wanted to focus on other projects. Just a few weeks later, the actor announced on Instagram that he isn’t reprising his role as Superman in the next movie either. However, that doesn’t mean he’ll be off our screens for long. In fact, Henry Cavill will be heading up a “Warhammer 40,0000” series.

  1. So wait, why did Henry Cavill leave “Superman”? That one wasn’t really down to him. The truth is that the DC universe is struggling in Hollywood, so James Gunn and Peter Safran are trying to shake things up for the next Superman movie. They’re going to be “focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life,” meaning Cavill wouldn’t work for the role. While that’s unlikely to revive the floundering franchise, it’s worth a shot.
  2. This was another big blow after his “Witcher” departure. That one was a little weird too. While reports claimed that Cavill was simply busy with other work, that may not be the whole story. Rumors were rife that Cavill wasn’t a fan of how the showrunners were veering off course from the storylines featured in the books. That difference in artistic taste could have led to his decision to go.
  3. Thankfully, Henry Cavill will be in the “Warhammer 40,000” series that’s in the works. It’s believed that he will star in and executive produce the show with Amazon Prime, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That being said, things are still a bit up in the air since Amazon is said to be “in final talks for the rights.” Given that Henry Cavill is a huge Warhammer fan in real life, this should be good!
  4. Of course, the role could be somewhat limiting. “Warhammer 40,000” is set 40,000 years in the future when humanity has taken over the galaxy and is in the midst of tons of wars for invading other planets. If Cavill takes on a role in this universe, that would pretty much rule him out of other Warhammer stories. Some fans are fine with that, so long as he’s back on our screens ASAP!
  5. The actor is thrilled about this new project. As he said in an Instagram post on December 16: “For 30 years, I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life. Partnering with Natalie Viscuso at Vertigo has been a blessing beyond words, without her we might not have found the perfect home at Amazon. And having a home like Amazon will give us the freedom to be true to the massive scope of Warhammer. To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavor to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen.”
