Here’s How To Know If Someone Likes You Back Once And For All

It’s a rare occurrence for someone to admit to another person’s face that they like them. Most of the time, if you want to know how someone really feels about you, you’ll have to look at the clues they leave. Luckily, there are a few clear signs that a person you’re into is feeling you as well. Read on to find out how to know if someone likes you back once and for all.

  1. They make an effort to see you. You won’t have to try and convince the person who likes you to see you. They’ll want to see you on their own! No matter how inconvenient it is or how busy they are, if they like you, they’ll make an effort to see you. The exception would be when they’re nervous about seeing you. In that case, they may cancel at the last minute. But sooner or later, someone who likes you will always resolve to spend time with you.
  2. They reciprocate your efforts. You know those people who leave you on read? The ones who you always have to contact first and they never reciprocate the effort? Those people don’t like you romantically. When someone does have feelings for you, they will always reciprocate the effort you put into them.
  3. They talk to their friends about you. Someone talking to their friends about you is a pretty big clue that they like you. Think about some of the conversations you’ve had with your friends about people you like! You might not be able to read their friends’ minds to know what they’ve said. But if their friends act strangely around you or repeat what they’ve heard, it’s a promising sign.
  4. They have a deep interest in you. When a person likes you in a romantic way, they’ll typically show a deep interest in you. That interest will go beyond the friendship level. When you talk, they’ll listen carefully to what you say. They’ll ask questions to try and learn more about you. They might even ask people about you! That intense level of interest indicates that their feelings are more than just friendly.
  5. They want one-on-one time with you. It’s only natural to want one-on-one time with the person you like. If the person who likes you is your friend too, they might try to find excuses to see you away from the rest of the friendship group. If they see you alone at a party, for example, they may take the opportunity to come over and sit with you. Whether you’re friends already or not, they’ll look for any chances to spend time alone with you, without the distraction of other people around.
  6. Their body language shows they like you. Body language is one of the biggest clues that point towards a person’s true feelings, even if they don’t admit to them. According to Mind Body Green, there are several body language cues to look out for that could mean someone really likes you. Does that person lean towards you when you’re talking to them? Make eye contact with you or stare at you when you’re not looking? Find small ways to innocently touch you? These are all signs that they’ve secretly caught feelings.
  7. They always laugh at your jokes. Laughter and jokes can be powerful when it comes to bringing two people together. Someone who likes you will often laugh at all your jokes, whether or not they’re really funny. They don’t want you to feel rejected by not receiving any laughs. And they see laughing as an opportunity to subtly connect with you and show their interest. Typically, people who like you will also try and make you laugh, if they feel confident enough to. Bustle reports that this is a classic sign that someone likes you more than you think they do.
  8. They go out of their way for you. When a person truly likes you, nothing is too much effort. They will go out of their way for you, even if it’s annoying or inconvenient for them. If they have a chance to grab a coffee with you, they’ll travel to the other side of town. When they know you’ll be at a party, they’ll be there too, even if they’d rather not go. That person won’t hesitate to put themselves out if it means a chance to get closer to you. Compare this with people who act as though just seeing you is a chore—those are not your people!
  9. They act like they like you. In most cases, figuring out whether someone likes you is pretty simple. If they act like they like you, then they probably do. And if they act like they don’t, believe them. There are exceptions, of course. Sometimes, people play hard to get or are too shy to act on their feelings. But the majority of the time, if the clues are there, then you can assume that person likes you.
  10. They’ve said they like you when you’ve asked them. At the end of the day, if you’re really into someone, the easiest thing to do is express your feelings to them and see how they react. If they’re feeling the same, you’ll know pretty quickly. Same for if they’re not on the same page. It’s worth finding out either way so you know where you stand.
