I took Spanish for five years and I’ve tried to learn a few other languages since but have never become fluent, so I have a huge appreciation for anyone who speaks multiple languages. I can say without a doubt that there’s nothing bad you can say about this quality but there are definitely many, many reasons why bilingual men are so much hotter.
They sound more intelligent.
I’m not saying that not being bilingual means you’re dumb, but something about it sounds more intelligent. It’s not always the easiest thing to learn a new language or to keep up with it enough to be fluent in more than one. I’m even more entranced when someone is able to switch back and forth between languages like it’s nothing. One of my friends is Puerto Rican and she can do this with Spanish and English without even hesitation and I’m left in awe every time. Even though I won’t personally say it equates intelligence, there have been many studies that make that exact claim.
They typically have an insatiable curiosity about the world around them.
Many polyglots (a person who speaks several languages) enjoy getting out and seeing the world. Perhaps that’s why they learned other languages. Maybe it inspired them to see the country of the language they learned, or maybe they travel for work and need to learn other languages for that reason. Regardless of the reason, those who take the time to learn one or more new languages tend to also take the time to travel and learn about other cultures.
They can teach you something.
When I first found my boyfriend online, his profile said he practiced Muay Thai. I just happened to be heading to Thailand and planned on practicing Muay Thai while there so the very first thing I ever said to him was, “How about you teach me some basics before I leave on my trip?” Three and a half years later, here we are together. There’s something incredibly sexy about a guy who can teach you something new. Trust me, guys like knowing they can teach you something too. It makes them feel useful and everyone likes that.
They sound more passionate.
In my possibly unpopular opinion, English isn’t the most sensual sounding language. Many other languages just roll off the tongue in such a beautiful way. Therefore, I think bilingual guys sound way more passionate—especially those fluent in one of the romance languages.
Everyone wants a boyfriend with an accent.
I’ve never met a woman (not saying they aren’t out there) that doesn’t love an accent. It’s just one of things that never fail to get you going. I’ve always said I wanted to date a British guy and that’s not even bilingual. Bilingual guys with accents can say the simplest things in English and it sounds like heaven.
Being bilingual is healthy.
Having a sharp mind and staying healthy for a longer period of time is sexy—at least in my opinion. Women already live longer than men, so we may as well keep our brains functioning cognitively for a longer time. Studies have found that learning and speaking more than one language delays the risk of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Bilingual guys, especially in the US, are more unique.
Unfortunately, language education in America is sorely lacking and it’s one of the things that’s always bothered me about where I’m from. It’s never been important for us to learn other languages and I believe the statistic is something like only one in four Americans are multilingual. Perhaps that’s why learning another language has always been appealing to me. Fortunately, for them, this makes the bilingual guys way more unique and thus more attractive to us ladies. It shows they took the time to learn something that wasn’t required of them in school.
It makes them seem mysterious.
Unless a guy goes around advertising that he speaks other languages, you may never know until one day it comes up or they start speaking that language to another person. I always find it alluring and attractive when I find out something unexpected about a guy I’m dating. It also makes it seem like they have several personalities (in a good way, of course), which is mysterious in its own way.
Creativity is sexy.
Individuals who speak more than one language are naturally more creative. A study found that those that speak more than one language interpret the world around them differently and thus are more creative. Creativity can come across in so many ways but, in my opinion, is one of the sexiest qualities in a person.
I Normally Want People to Shut Up, but Bilingual Guys can Keep on Talking.
Normally, people talking a lot annoys the crap out of me. I’m the first to admit that I’m not the biggest people person. I’m a textbook introvert and I hate small talk. However, when I meet someone who speaks several languages, they can keep on talking. Even if I have no idea what they’re saying, I’m just thinking to myself, “Please don’t stop.”
