Zachery Ty Bryan, best known as one of the child stars of popular ’90s sitcom Home Improvement, was arrested in Eugene, Oregon on Friday, October 16 for allegedly strangling his girlfriend, TMZ reports. The 39-year-old was taken into custody after it was claimed he’d abused the woman during an altercation and remained at Lane County Jail as of Saturday.
- Neighbors called the police on him. They heard a scuffle somewhere in the apartment complex Bryan and the woman are living in and decided to call for help. According to the Eugene PD, Bryan was sitting outside while the victim was hiding at a friend’s apartment elsewhere in the complex.
- The argument between Bryan and his girlfriend got physical. It’s unclear what they were arguing about, but upon investigation, police discovered that Bryan got violent during the altercation and “put his hands around [the woman’s] throat and squeezed.” He also tried to take her phone away when she tried to call 911, but she managed to get away to a friend’s place.
- He was arrested at the scene without incident. According to TMZ, Bryan was booked on three charges: fourth-degree assault, strangulation, and interfering with making a report. He was taken down to Lane County Jail where he seemed to be all smiles for his mugshot!
- No one’s sprung him from the slammer yet. Guess he’ll have gone through his Home Improvement money a long time ago by now, so maybe he can’t afford bond?
