While homeless people may not have an easy path, many of those living on the streets count on the companionship and love of their pets in order to get them through their days. A Colombian man named Choko may not have had lots of money to pamper his dogs, but he still decided to give them the love and sense of celebration they deserved by throwing them a birthday party.

- Choko’s party was caught on camera. An unknown bystander caught the video of Choko with his pups while out walking in the city of Bucaramanga. It was clear that he was celebrating his dog Shaggy’s birthday and having his other dog Nena join in on the fun. He even had part hats for the pups.
- Shaggy got a cake with candles. While Choko likely had no money to buy much food or any personal care items for himself, he still wanted to make the day count for his animals. He lit the candles on the cake and sang Happy Birthday to Shaggy, who lapped up the attention.
- Everything about Choko’s life changed from there. The person who took the original video decided to talk to Choko and found out the man had been homeless for several years after leaving an abusive home. However, despite not having a roof over his head, he was committed to looking after Shaggy and Nena.
- Soon after, people began pitching in. They found the park Choko was staying at and started bringing him food and other supplies to make sure both he and his dogs were looked after. He’s become somewhat of a celebrity, with people in the area getting Choko to take pictures with their dogs. He even has an Instagram account with more than 180,000 followers.
- It seems that Choko is no longer on the streets. He now has a roof over his head and a warm, comfortable place to stay with Shaggy and Nena. He’s even selling t-shirts and donating a percentage of the sales to charities that help stop animal abuse, Bored Panda reports. He wants to eventually pursue music and open his own animal shelter. I believe he’ll do it too!
