A ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ Sequel Might Be On The Way

It’s hard to believe that the classic rom-com How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days came out an insane 17 years ago. SEVENTEEN YEARS! How is that possible?! Despite the fact that nearly two decades have passed since it was released, the movie still holds up in 2020 and remains a firm fan favorite. Even Kate Hudson still thinks about it and wants a sequel, and frankly, from her mouth to God’s ears!

  1. If you’ve never seen it, you need to rectify that ASAP. What was so great about How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days was that it was such a fun premise. An ad exec named Benjamin, played by Matthew McConaughey, bets some of his colleagues that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days. Meanwhile, writer Andie, played by Hudson, is writing a story about how to lose a guy in 10 days. The rest, as they say, is magic. Clearly, a sequel is needed!
  2. Sadly, this isn’t actually confirmed. In reality, the very idea of a follow-up movie came from Kate Hudson herself, who admitted in an interview with Elle that she would love to revisit the character of Andie and see what her relationship with Ben would be like these days. “I’ve always thought about what Matthew and I’s characters would be now, if we were still together,” she said. “It’s actually probably a good amount of time [that has passed] to make a movie about it. We probably would have gotten married with kids. We’re probably miserable right now!
  3. Hudson really loved making this movie. Perhaps the reason she’s so keen on a How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days sequel is because making the first one was such a great experience. “It was a very different time of making movies,” she recalled. “People like me and Matthew, I feel like we were the last class of actors that really experienced the old school Hollywood process of making movies. It was a special time.”
  4. Crazier things have happened, so why not this? Sure, the studio hasn’t actually greenlit this or maybe even thought of it before, but why can’t we have it? We’re getting remakes of everything else, so I’ll take a How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days sequel ASAP, thank you!
