It’s no secret that many guys are usually a little reluctant to any kind of commitment. We tend to take our time with such decisions rather than rushing into something. Sometimes it’s up to you ladies to make a case for yourselves and let us know why we’d be happy with you as our girlfriend. Obviously, you can’t just come out and say it. However, here are some things you can do if a guy needs a little extra convincing.
- Get tight with his friends. In my opinion, the best girlfriends don’t keep a guy from hanging out with his friends. In fact, they go the extra mile by being cool hanging out with his friends sometimes too. Keep in mind that if you want to be his partner, you’ll probably be spending a fair amount of time with his friends. You can give yourself a head start by winning over his friends and showing him how great it will be to have a girlfriend who’s cool with his buddies.
- Get creative with dates. It’s not hard to find someone who wants to go to dinner and a movie. If you want to be the kind of girlfriend who stays around for a little while, you have to do better than that. Show a guy that you can be fun and exciting by suggesting less traditional dates. Find things that are a little out of the box. Not everything will work out, but keep trying. This will show a guy that things will never be boring with you.
- Always be honest. If a guy has to worry about whether or not he can trust you, he’s never going to see you as a potential girlfriend. You always have to be honest with him and hold him to the same standards. Never give him a reason to think that you’re hiding something. If you can do this, he’s more likely to do the same and see you as the kind of girlfriend he can trust.
- Be a well-rounded person. This sounds like it might be complicated, but it’s not. You have to show a guy that there are several sides to you. Show him that you have hobbies and interests and things you care about more than just being his girlfriend. It’ll make you seem more interesting, which guys like. If you come off as one-dimensional, he’ll assume that he will get bored after a while. But when you show him that there is a lot more to you than meets the eye, he’ll be more likely to think of you in a long-term light.
- Take care of yourself. Most guys want a girlfriend, not a pet project. I’m certain you ladies feel the same way. A great girlfriend is someone who can take care of herself financially, cares about her health, and isn’t too emotionally needy. All of these are red flags that will make it harder for you to stand out as a potential partner. Much like you ladies, guys want someone who wants us, not needs us.
- Have confidence. Taking care of yourself goes hand in hand with having self-confidence. Guys don’t want a girlfriend who needs constant validation. That’s a huge red flag that she’s is super needy. We also don’t like it when you dismiss our compliments. A great girlfriend will feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. You need to show a guy that you fit that description.
- Smile more. Everyone wants to be around someone who’s always in a good mood, right? It’s also a great feature for a girlfriend. If you’re always happy and smiling, a guy will feed off of that. More importantly, he’ll want to be around someone like that all the time. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should fake it. Your smiles and sunny disposition need to be genuine. However, try to show a guy, and occasionally tell him, that you’re always happy being around him.
- Tell him why you like him. Guys hate playing guessing games. Most of us are also a tad insecure. We need to know for sure that you like us and why. For starters, it’s good for our ego and self-esteem. It also makes us comfortable knowing that we can be ourselves and you’ll still like us. Every now and then, spell out why you like us and it’ll make us start to think that you’ll make a great girlfriend.
- Don’t play games. If it’s obvious that you’re playing games with a guy, you’ll never be his girlfriend. I mean, you’ll have to be really good and he’ll have to be super dumb to get away with it. How will he know that the games will stop once you make things official? Just be upfront and honest about the kind of relationship you want. If you’re not on the same page, you can both move on.
- Be his best friend. For a lot of guys, the perfect girlfriend is someone who is like a best friend. Well, a best friend that you’re super-duper attracted to. Show him that you two can talk about anything. Show him that you two can goof around sometimes. Show him that you’re comfortable being with him in any situation. If you can do all of that and show him that you two have good sexual chemistry, you should have him convinced that you’ll be a great girlfriend.
