How To Tell If He Truly Likes You Via Text

No matter how much you’ve dated in the past, let’s be honest: it’s not always easy to know if a guy likes you via text. Is he really keen on dating you or just being polite? Well, if he’s doing these 12 things, he’s showing real interest.

  1. He sometimes texts without an m.o. He doesn’t just text you when he wants to ask you out for drinks, but just to chat about your day or share a laugh. It shows that he’s thinking of you and wants to spend time getting to know you.
  2. He’s not all about sexy texts. Is there anything worse than dealing with a guy who only wants to chat when he’s horny? Ugh. If he can talk to you about a whole bunch of things, not just sex, that shows he wants you for more than your hot body.
  3. He sends a text when he wakes up. It’s really early and he’s already firing up your phone with “good morning” texts and throwing in a compliment or two. It’s like he was thinking you from the second he woke up. Swoon.
  4. He texts back right away. Okay, so it’s impossible for him to always text you back within half an hour, but if he does this often it shows that he can’t wait to make contact and chat. He’s excited to talk to you!
  5. He texts to confirm plans. This doesn’t just mean that he’s organized and doesn’t want to waste his time, but it shows that he can’t wait to see you again. Bonus points if he tells you just that.
  6. He texts when he says he will. Okay, so that whole idea that a guy who likes you will text you when he said he would sometimes feels ancient, but it always comes up because it’s true! If he can keep his word, even with something small like texts, it shows that he’s not messing you around.
  7. He sends you heart emojis. He might not like using emojis, but he knows (like the rest of us) that sometimes it’s so much easier to send a heart emoji to express a flirtation than it is to spell it out. Basically, sending emojis isn’t always a convo killer. So, if he’s sending you some of these cute and fun emojis, it could be a sign that he’s hinting about how much he likes you.
  8. He texts you things he knows you’ll like. Did you mention that you love pandas or Starbucks coffees? Now he’s texting you cute pics of those pandas or texting you to invite you to Starbucks for a morning cuppa and a walk in the park. Hmmm. When a guy texts you about things he knows you like, it shows he’s making an effort and that he remembers the things that you tell him.
  9. He tells you if he can’t text. If he’s going to be super busy at work and won’t have time to chat until later that night, he’ll drop you a text to let you know. He doesn’t want you to think that he’s ignoring you or going AWOL. It’s these little things that can make you feel like you’ve found a really good guy who’s not interested in playing games.
  10. He asks you questions that matter. He doesn’t just ask you generic questions, like how your day was, which can become tedious after a while. Instead, he isn’t afraid to go deeper, such as by asking about things that really matter, like your dreams, goals, likes, dislikes, and more.
  11. He’s not afraid to open up to you. It’s not always easy to open up to someone via text, so if he’s making an effort to share what he’s about and answers your questions without being shady, it’s a good sign that he wants to build greater emotional intimacy with you.
  12. He builds up to calling you a nickname. When you’ve been texting each other for a while and you receive a unique, cute nickname that he’s assigned you via text, it will not only make you smile but make you feel that he’s keen to get closer and you guys are bonding at a good pace. It’s exciting to see what will happen next.
