You may have been mistaken before when thinking you found a great guy, but things feel different with the guy you’re dating now. In fact, he may even be “The One.” Here are a few ways to confirm that not only is your guy amazing, but he’s worthy of keeping around.
You’re not worried about having him meet the family.
Sure, you’re nervous, but you’re not worried. Never before has your guy been out of line with topics of discussion, and he’s generally very polite and loving with his own family. He knows just what to say to fit into any conversation and knows that presentation is important when it comes to meeting new people. Prior to, you had to make sure your boyfriends showered before celebrating events, so this is a big step forward.
He goes to the movies with you even if it’s to see something that’s not high on his list.
When it comes to entertainment, the two of you have no issue with compromise. You see movies you’re not that into and he’ll gladly accompany you to your favorites. Even if it’s not a top choice, he knows it’s worth it to go out and spend some extra time with you.
He makes you laugh.
And even better, his sense of humor isn’t mean-spirited. Making fun of someone else is an easy way to show off your insecurities. Instead, he can find unique humor in any situation. When you find a guy who can keep you laughing, you’ll want to hold onto him for a lifetime.
He’s responsible with his money.
Some guys out there are quick to blow their money on stuff that makes them look like they have unlimited cash. Others, like your guy, understand the importance of paying bills on time. Responsibility is really sexy, and this guy is proving to you that he can take care of the household.
He respects your privacy.
He’s not checking out your website history or scrolling through your phone while you’re in the shower. If he felt like something was up, he’d just ask you. It’s probably nice being with someone who realizes that even though you’re his girlfriend, you’re also your own person.
He’s also not really into your dating past.
He’s totally fine if it’s a topic you gloss over. Obviously, you’ll want to be upfront about any big events like marriages or proposals. You’ll also want to be honest about STDs or other scares in the past. However, he won’t ask you for information about how your last boyfriend treated you. He also has no interest in knowing your “number” or wondering how he stacks up against the other guys.
He gets along decently with your friends.
They don’t have to be best friends forever, but he at least respects them and knows that it’s only healthy for you to spend time with them. He’ll tag along once or twice to events, but not try to step on your toes. If your friends like him, that’s yet another sign that this guy is a keeper.
He doesn’t take his anger out on you.
It’s often hard not to just explode at someone after an extremely tense day at the office, but he’s been really good at curing his negative emotions in a healthy way. Eventually, he’ll tell you what happened and how he’s feeling. If he just needs some time to himself to unwind, he’ll actually tell you and not just storm off into another room.
He wants you to thrive.
Sometimes your own passions may take you on a whole new adventure. Whether it’s studying in another state to complete a degree or perhaps a class that’s overseas for a month, this guy wants you to pursue your passions even if the distance will be hard for him. Your guy wants you to be your own person and live your life to the fullest.
He doesn’t silence you.
This guy listens to what you have to say and responds appropriately. He doesn’t interrupt you, talk over you, or even worse, try to mansplain something you already know. Your boyfriend knows you’re a smart woman, and he’ll never do anything to make you think that you’re not. Having proper conversations also means that your communication is likely pretty great, which means you have a better chance of an everlasting relationship.
