I Don’t Care About The Cold — I Can’t Wait For Winter

Yeah, it’s cold, but that’s what a jacket is for, right? I can’t understand all of the winter-haters out there. I, for one, look forward to the end of the year and closing out my calendar with holiday festivities, cozy sweaters, and maybe even some snow. Move over, pumpkin spice lattes. I can’t wait for winter, and thankfully, it’s just around the corner. If you’re like me, you’ll probably relate to these 12 things:

  1. You can’t wait to lace up your ice skates. It brings you back to the time when you were a little girl and wanted to grow up to do triple sow-cows and thought you would be the next Nancy Kerrigan (pre-Tanya Harding scandal, of course). You still feel graceful and feminine on the ice, and you can’t wait to glide around.
  2. You love to sit in front of the fireplace. You could stare into the flames forever, inhaling the scent of the smoky wood. You love to kick off your boots and feel the warmth on your feet.
  3. You have the best excuse to cuddle with your sweetheart all morning. Too cold to get out of bed? Then don’t. Cuddling on a winter morning is the best feeling ever. You could stay there for hours, hugging each other and keeping warm.
  4. There are so many delicious hot drinks to enjoy. Mulled wine? Hot apple cider laced with cinnamon? Hot chocolate with marshmallows? It doesn’t matter if you’re a Starbucks girl or a do-it-yourself junkie, there’s a winter drink out there that just melts your insides.
  5. You can practically taste the yummy goodness of delicious hot food. Speaking of foodie paradise, let’s not forget the delicious winter-friendly foods out there, too. Homemade chicken noodle soup? Hearty stews? Hot oatmeal? Bring on the cold weather. You’ll be in the kitchen.
  6. You’re such a Christmas kid at heart. Obviously. It’s one of those holidays that just gets better and better with time. You’ve got the best ideas for presents and are psyched to put up your lights. You’re all about the Christmas cheer.
  7. Your social calendar is totally full with all of the holiday parties coming up. There’s never a dull weekend in the winter. You’ve got one with coworkers, another with only the coworkers you actually like, one with friends from college, one with recent friends. You’re basically party hopping for the entire season.
  8. You hate to admit it, but you actually really miss big family gatherings. Gone are the days where you dreaded leaving your beloved dorm room to return home from the holidays. The further into adulthood you get, the more you appreciate your giant, crazy family, especially your parents.
  9. You get to see all of your high school friends from home. Thanksgiving and Christmas are basically just giant high school reunions every year since everyone is home for the holidays. Sure, you’ve all changed, but you still love seeing your old crew and reconnecting with your childhood BFF.
  10. You love the cold, still nights. In the summer, everything just seems loud and busy. In the winter, though, as soon as the sun sets and everyone takes shelter in their homes, there’s just something so peaceful about the quiet nights outside.
  11. Snow. You can’t help it. You’re all grown up, but there’s still something so satisfying about crunching fresh snow.
  12. You’re looking forward to a new year and a new start. It’s a chance to change your life, take on new challenges, and start fresh. You have a feeling 2016 is going to be a good one.
