Iowa Man Threatened To Blow Up McDonald’s With Bomb After They Forget His Dipping Sauce For McNuggets Polk County Jail

An Iowa man was arrested after he allegedly phoned in a bomb threat to a local McDonald’s because there was no dipping sauce included with his McNuggets. Robert Golwitzer Jr. called the restaurant in Ankeny at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 and told the employee that answered the phone that he would blow up the location and punch a worker, according to a
Ankeny Police Sgt. Corey Schneden’s statement to WHO-TV.

  1. McDonald’s immediately contacted the police. While the likelihood that Golwitzer was going to follow through with his threats was small, employees weren’t taking any chances and immediately contacted Ankeny Police. Officers then used the phone number Golwitzer called the restaurant with to contact him, according to the criminal complaint.
  2. Gulwitzer admitted making the threats immediately. Not only did he tell police over the phone that he’d made the call and the threats but he again confirmed it was him when he made a statement during a police interview at Ankeny Police station. He offered no excuse or apology, nor was there an explanation for his extreme reaction.
  3. He was charged and released the following day. Polk County Jail records reveal that Golwitzer was charged with false report of an explosive or incendiary device, which is considered to be a hate crime. He posted bond and was released the following day.
  4. Is missing out on dipping sauce any reason for a criminal record? I guess in Golwitzer’s book, the answer is yes.
