Jameson Just Announced A Cold Brew Whiskey With Both Alcohol And Caffeine Jameson Whiskey

I don’t drink often, but when I do, whiskey is definitely my tipple of choice. While I’m not a total brand snob, I have been known to request a Jameson more often than not since I know I can always count on them to give me that pleasant back of the throat burn that comes along with that first sip (I drink it straight-up) and I find it particularly enjoyable. Well, my allegiance to the brand is about to grow because Jameson just announced a cold brew whiskey with alcohol AND caffeine.

  1. Putting whiskey in your coffee isn’t necessarily a new idea. While it’s certainly not recommended for your morning brew if you’re on your way to work, getting behind the wheel of a car, or, you know, not on vacation, people have been sneakily adding a little dash of whiskey into their coffee for eons, it feels like. Jameson is reversing the process, putting coffee in their whiskey, and I have to say, I like their way of thinking.
  2. You’ll be awake and buzzed simultaneously. Jameson’s new cold brew will contain 17mg of caffeine per shot of whiskey, which is pretty decent. In comparison, an average cup of regular coffee has about 95mg of caffeine per 8 oz, so Jameson isn’t slouching here. That means in addition to getting a little buzzed, you’ll be way more alert as well. Not bad!
  3. There’s no actual coffee in it, however… While calling the product “cold brew” would imply that there’s coffee mixed in, that would likely make the product a little less shelf-stable, so Jameson opted for “natural cold brew flavor” here instead of the real thing. “This is a perfectly balanced combination of our smooth Irish Whiskey with hints of toasted oak, dark chocolate and a rich coffee aroma,” reads the description on the Jameson website.
  4. The flavor is at least pulled from actual coffee beans. “Triple distilled Jameson meets refreshing Fairtrade Arabica – two sources of smooth brought together for roasted coffee richness with hints of toasted oak and dark chocolate,” the website reads. “Perfect on ice, in a cocktail and among friends, it’s the best of both worlds, bottled.” Look, you had me at cold brew whiskey. I didn’t need any more convincing here.
  5. It’s a limited release but should be available soon. Jameson hasn’t given any specific release date for their cold brew whiskey, but I get the feeling it should be on shelves at your local liquor store soon if it’s not already. It’s unclear how long it’ll be available, however, so if you like it, it might be worth stocking up on.
