Jared Leto Cosplayed Joe Exotic To Watch ‘Tiger King’ And I’m Screaming

If you’ve used your time stuck indoors to watch Tiger King on Netflix, you’ll be all too familiar with the enigmatic (or just hilariously messy) Joe Exotic. Sure, he may be spending the rest of his life in prison as part of a murder-for-hire plot against a woman who may or may not have fed her own husband to the big cats she dedicated her life to saving, but by God is he memorable. Even more memorable? Jared Leto dressed up as Joe Exotic to live-tweet the series and frankly, I don’t even know how to feel about it.

  1. Even celebrities are getting bored. Just because someone is rich and famous doesn’t mean they’re immune to shelter-in-place laws. And because Jared Leto is likely not used to being stuck indoors and unable to do much of anything at all, cosplaying Joe Exotic sounded like a good idea. Can we blame him?
  2. This may be the coolest thing Jared Leto has ever done. Despite the fact that we’ve all had crushes on Jared Leto since he played Jared Catalano on My So-Called Life back in ’94, in real life, he’s apparently a bit of a doucher. Seeing him as Joe Exotic makes him seem slightly less up himself and a little more relatable (which may have been part of his plan, but whatever).
  3. He (unconsciously) dressed up like Carol too. Later in his live-tweeting thread, Leto posted an old photo of himself in a blouse that looked suspiciously like one of Carol’s, writing, “Now I DEF wore this on tour.” It’s hilarious because it’s true.
  4. Sadly, Leto only live-tweeted the first episode of Tiger King. I wish he would make an event of it and dress up like Joe Exotic every week as he tweets (or maybe Instagram Lives?) a new episode. Sadly, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, so we’ll just have to settle for continuing to look at the original posts.
