Jeremy Renner has shared a photo from his hospital bed after a snowplowing accident left him in critical condition. The Marvel actor was airlifted to a local hospital from his home near Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day. After undergoing surgery, Renner took to Instagram to issue a small update on his health and thank fans for their well wishes.
“Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏. I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all,” he captioned the selfie. Renner appeared to be pretty badly bruised on his face and was receiving oxygen but was conscious enough to post the message.
It was earlier revealed that Renner was helping a family member whose vehicle had become stranded in the heavy snowfall when he was hit by his own car.
Reno mayor Hillary Schieve, who’s friends with Jeremy Renner, confirmed the star was in “critical but stable condition” after undergoing two surgeries and praised him for coming to the aid of those in need. “He is always helping others,” she told the Reno Gazette-Journal.
A rep for Renner issued a further statement detailing the extent of his injuries.
“We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023,” the rep said, per Deadline. “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
Renner is said to currently be recovering in the intensive care unit. He is expected to make a full recovery.
