Amber Heard sobbed as she continued giving testimony in court, claiming that ex-husband Johnny Depp “penetrated her with a bottle” while in a drunken rage. The 36-year-old testified that the incident took place while the couple was in Australia in March 2015.
- Her account of what happened is disturbing, to say the least. Heard testified that Depp smashed up several glass bottles at the property they were staying at and even threatened to “carve up” her face while telling her how much she hates her and that she ruined his life.
- Heard gave a very detailed recollection. She told the jury that Depp “ripped” her nightgown off at one point during the argument and that she was left “naked and my feet were slipping around.” She also said that Depp started “punching the wall” before hitting a “wall-mounted phone” that he started “smashing over and over again.”
- She was afraid for her life. Heard told the court that at one point, she was on a countertop and Depp had her pinned down. “I was looking into his eyes, and it was black. I couldn’t get through to him – I couldn’t see him at all. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t get through to him, and I couldn’t get up. I don’t know what happened next,” she said. “The next thing I remember I was bent over backwards over the bar, my back was on the countertop and I thought he was punching me. I felt this pressure on my pubic bone, and I could see his arm moving, and it looked like he was punching me.”
- Then, Heard says Depp did something particularly horrific. Heard went on to say that at one point, she became aware that Depp was penetrating her with a bottle. “I didn’t feel pain, just this pressure on my pubic bone. I don’t remember what I said, I just remember being really still and not wanting to move. Looking around the room and looking at all the broken bottles and broken glass…” she explained. “I didn’t know if the bottle he had inside me was broken.” When asked if she had been assaulted, Heard clarified: “Johnny had the bottle inside of me and was shoving [it] inside of me over and over again.”
- This wasn’t the first violation of its kind, according to Heard. She previously testified that Depp had performed a “cavity search” on her while looking for cocaine.
