Johnny Depp’s Art Collection Sells Out In Hours Making Him More Than $3.5 Million

Johnny Depp’s art collection sold out within a matter of hours in an online auction, making the actor more than $3.6 million. Depp sold the art through Castle Fine Art’s 37 galleries, and all 780 prints in the Friends and Heroes collection were snatched up in record time.

  1. Depp announced the sale on Instagram. He posted a photo of himself posing in front of four of his prints. The art featured other artists and icons that Depp has always admired including Al Pacino, Elizabeth Taylor, and Bob Dylan, among others.
  2. He’s always loved doing art and wants to share it with people. Speaking about the Heroes and Friends collection, Depp said: “I’ve always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who matter most to me, like my family, friends, and people I admire.” The collection presents an “intimate reflection of their character in Johnny’s eyes; a portrayal of how they have revealed themselves to him.” The collection’s description adds: “From his dear friend Keith Richards, who inspired the mannerisms of the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, to Bob Dylan, whose creative influence on the artist is seen in his vivid and immortal portrayal by Johnny.”
  3. You had to have a fair amount of money to grab some of Depp’s art. Framed prints sold for nearly $5,000 each, but you could grab four together if you were lucky enough for around $18,000. It didn’t take long for buyers to dig deep into their pockets, however. Within 20 minutes, the Castle Fine Art website crashed due to high traffic! “#JohnnyDepp broke the internet! Website will be back up soon,” the company tweeted.
  4. It’s uncertain whether Depp will come out with another collection one day. However, given his penchant for fine arts, it’s likely. As Castle Fine Arts stated: “For Johnny Depp there has always been art. Before acting, and before music, art has always been an important outlet for his creativity. While his acting repertoire is the foundation for his fame, the recent reception to his music with Jeff Beck has encouraged him, and emboldened him, to share his art.” If you missed out on this collection, don’t give up hope – there’ll probably be another one day!
