Keanu Reeves Will Reprise One Of His Most Iconic Movie Roles

Keanu Reeves has been in some pretty memorable films over the years, from the Matrix movies to the John Wick franchise. However, he’s now set to reprise one of his most iconic roles in the upcoming sequel to superhero blockbuster Constantine, which was released all the way back in 2005. Exciting times!

  1. The character of John Constantine was introduced back in 1985. It first appeared in the comic Swamp Thing, with the visual inspiration said to be based on the Police frontman Sting. Keanu Reeves took on the role in the film adaptation 20 years later.
  2. Director Francis Lawrence will return for the sequel. According to Deadline, Lawrence is also coming back for the sequel, with the original Constantine movie being his big screen directorial debut. In the years since, he’s worked on several of the Hunger Games movies as well as Red Sparrow.
  3. JJ Abrams will produce the sequel. Akiva Goldsman is said to be writing the script for the new movie, which is believed to be still in development. Warner Bros Pictures Group co-chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy felt passionate about the project and worked to get it greenlit, according to Deadline.
  4. We don’t know much else about the Constantine sequel just yet. However, knowing that Keanu Reeves is back can only be a good thing. What else do we need to know? No doubt future casting and storyline information will be released as it becomes available. It remains to be seen whether Rachel Weisz, Tilda Swinton, or Shia LaBeouf, all of whom starred in the original, will make an appearance.
