Kelly Clarkson Would Rather ‘Age Like A Dog’ With ‘Every Wrinkle In The World’ Than Get Botox

Kelly Clarkson has insisted that she will never get Botox, insisting that she would rather “age like a dog” and end up with “every wrinkle in the world” than resort to injectibles. Appearing on Mayim Biali’s podcast, Mayim Biali’s Breakdown, the 39-year-old singer says that she’s looking forward to aging naturally and gracefully and while she doesn’t judge anyone who tries to fight the hands of time, it’s just not for her.

  1. Much of Clarkson’s aversion to Botox is based on fear. As she explained, she doesn’t think she’s better than anyone who does get Botox, she’s just too afraid to do it herself. “I’m gonna look like a total Shar-Pei, like a dog. I’m gonna have every wrinkle in the world on my face,” she admitted. “It has nothing to do with me being better than somebody that gets [work done on] their face. I’m afraid of stuff called botulinum toxin.”
  2. While many people shy away from the spotlight as they age, Clarkson plans on staying put. Bialik said during the interview that she hoped to be out of Hollywood by the time she really started to look older, but Clarkson disagrees. “I hope I’m still having my talk show and I hope people see this is what it looks like, this is how you look when you get older; it’s fine,” Clarkson said.
  3. Clarkson’s no stranger to scrutiny about her image. Since she won American Idol back in 2002, there have been no shortage of people who wanted to dictate or even simply comment about her appearance. “Everybody would always try to micromanage everything and try to get you to be something that you’re not,” she recalled. “That’s been the hardest challenge.”
  4. At the end of the day, Clarkson embraces who she is. While she likes getting glammed up sometimes, generally speaking, she’s just like the rest of us: she likes to be comfortable in her own skin. “I like [dressing up] for work because I think it’s fun, it’s like dress-up when you’re a kid,” she said. “But in my everyday, nah, I’m not gonna get dressed up to go to Target or hang out with my friends. I’m gonna do what I want to do in that moment.”
