I’m basically an equal opportunity chocolate bar eater, but I’d be lying if I didn’t name Kit Kat as one of my favorites. They come out with the most amazing flavors — the Japanese ones in particular are SO GOOD, especially the matcha green tea ones and the salt lemon ones — and they don’t look like they’re going to stop anytime soon. Now they’ve announced a new birthday cake Kit Kat flavor and I need it immediately.
- The flavor was unveiled on Instagram. Instagram user junkfoodleaks_ shared a photo of the birthday cake Kit Kat packaging as well as the bar itself, so you know it’s not a hoax. This is the real deal, people! The person who runs the account normally isn’t into birthday cake-flavored items, but they rated these as their second favorite Kit Kat flavor, so that says something!
- They’re apparently due out in 2020. We don’t know when in 2020, but if I had to venture a guess, I feel like they’re definitely a spring flavor. Maybe they’ll be out sometime around Easter? Kit Kat hasn’t officially announced a date yet, so I guess we’ll all have to keep our eyes peeled.
- What does it taste like? Junkfoodleaks_ compared the taste of the birthday cake Kit Kats to “eating spoonfuls of funfetti cake frosting right out of the jar,” which is never a bad thing in my book. The biscuit base is said to be a bit crunchier than usual and since the white chocolate coating is different, so is the texture, but neither of those things have a negative impact on the taste!
- What will Kit Kat come up with next? They’ve tried so many different flavors already that I’m kinda shocked they haven’t released a birthday cake flavored bar before now. This flavor is all the rage across snack products so I’m glad they’re catching up and frankly, I can’t wait to buy about a dozen of these. You know, for taste testing purposes.
