Everyone has their preferences when it comes to ideal pizza toppings. I’m a plain cheese slice gal myself, but I could go for pepperoni when I’m in the mood and I don’t mind a few globs of ricotta thrown on top of my pie every once in a while. However, I’m not down with fruit on pizza, and as if pineapple wasn’t bad enough, apparently at least one pizza place thinks kiwi is an acceptable topping!!

- The offending pie came from a pizzeria in Denmark. A Redditor with the username nre1313 shared the photo to the site earlier this week and it immediately began drumming up comments from outraged pizza lovers who couldn’t understand why on earth this happened.
- Some people actually said they would try it. Some commenters weren’t as appalled as the rest of us, with one enthusiastic reply reading, “I could almost taste the combined flavors of the cheese and kiwi— its saltiness and its sweetness and tartness respectively. Like it could be a good flavor combination much like that of cheese and grapes or berries.” OK, crazy!! Another person added, “My favourite pizza is bacon, pineapple, banana peppers. It’s got the salty/sweet/tangy trifecta of culinary delight. What I’m saying is I’d try kiwi before bashing it.” Wow, there really are maniacs on the loose out there!
- I get the principle here, but come on! Pizza is savory and fruit is generally sweet, so I get the idea that kiwi and cheese/tomato pizza would complement each other. For instance, I’ve heard that putting honey on pizza is delicious but I’ve never actually tried it. I get the idea but the actuality of it kinda grosses me out.
- Kiwi on pizza should not be a thing. Pineapple is weird enough, but KIWI on pizza? The texture alone makes me want to gag. Frankly, I can’t imagine that anyone would combine these two ingredients unless they were purposely trying to be obtuse/trolling everyone hard, but here we are.
- To each their own, but I think I’m good with my plain cheese. Would you give kiwi pizza a go?
