A Wine Theme Park Actually Exists & You Need To Go Immediately

If you love wine, you’re not alone. There’s nothing like pouring a glass of pinot grigio (or a nice rosé) at the end of a long day that’s just so relaxing. If this sounds like your idea of heaven, you’ll be thrilled to know that there’s an actual wine theme park that you can visit to fulfill your alcohol-laden dreams.

  1. It’s called La Cité du Vin, or The City Of Wine. Unsurprisingly, it’s in France—Bordeaux, to be specific. Bordeaux is legendary wine territory, so it makes sense that the world’s first wine theme park would be located there. It apparently cost 80 million euros to make, so you know they mean serious business.
  2. Sadly (but perhaps wisely), there are no rides. This isn’t your standard amusement park in that there are no real “rides” there, but metaphorically speaking, you’re still in for a wild one! The park’s restaurant serves up 800 varieties of wine from over 70 different countries, so something tells me you won’t get bored.
  3. There are tons of interactive exhibits. La Cité du Vin has 20 wine-themed exhibits, including a boat ride of some sort which I find both perplexing—it simulates what it was like to be a wine merchant back in the day—and potentially enjoyable. (I keep picturing the Real Housewives drunk on a yacht.) Basically, you can spend all day there and still not see everything.
  4. It’s only about $25 to get in. You might think that with so much wine goodness on offer (and the fact that it cost so much to build the place), admission might be super expensive. Nope! It’s only about $25 total, and that includes a glass of wine as well. There’s plenty of additional wine for purchase, so you should probably be prepared to spend all your money and then some.
